1/21/2024 0 Comments Bg radia in wall![]() Designers use false walls and custom mill work to try to hide things but you sacrifice the rooms usable space and this may not be possible to hide multiple large subs in a theater, let alone a multi-purpose "great" rooms or existing construction without a major remodel. While you may not be one of them, many people (especially in designer homes) do not want to see speaker boxes. Again, we're not talking apples-to-apples. While a Submersive is compact for a 2 x 15" subwoofer, it certainly won't fit in a 4" deep wall, and it is (as far as I know) only sold internet direct which means a lot of integrators or installers won't touch it. It is if you're failing to see the benefit of an in-wall. they will not be turning around and selling it out of their showroom anytime soon. When I was referring to a significant investment, I meant the investment for a dealer to make a capitol investment to put a product like this on an essentially permanent installation for demonstration purposes - e.g. Nothing subjective about that it is a matter of fact.Īnyway, if you guys have any questions about the system, I'd be glad to answer them. In a subwoofer, output is a function of volume displacement and so mutliple small drivers and work quite well, if done right.īG Radia is not an advertiser in Playback and never has been. Your comment about the Bose 901 is particularly out of place, since multiple small driver function much differently at low frequencies than as "full range" drivers. While you have a lot of posts here (way more than a "lurker" like me), I think you're talking out your rear end "bench racing" these products without any first hand experience. However, they don't service the same market (BG services primarily the custom channel) we do and the products are different in application and form factor. Also, I met Duke at CES back in either 2004 or 2005 and he seems like a really great guy. I've known Mark Seaton since his days on the DIY Basslist (pre-SPL / Servodrive) and am thrilled to see him succeed with his products. To have to have such a high force per unit area (2400 cm^2 driven by 48 1.5" diameter voice coils and >2 KW of power) gives amazing control and musicality. While the reason for the unconventional system configuration was to specifically address the depth constraints and vibration issues with in-wall mounting, this approach also provides some unique sonic benefits. I particularly like the quote here it says "don't think of it as an in-wall product, per se, but rather as a world-class sub that also just happens to support in-wall mounting." ![]() As a BG Radia employee, I just wanted to jump in and address some mis-characterizations here.Īs somebody who worked on the BGX-4850 project extensively, I was extremely pleased with the rave review, especially from Chris Martens who, as an editor / writer with Playback, The Perfect Vision and The Absolute Sound, is one of the industry's most respected reviewers. It's great to see some interest here in BG Radia products.
